Intro BU Technologies & Licensing The Technologies & Licensing division offers clever and innovative textile technologies for the various requirements of the textile industry. We make these available to our production partners in the form of patents and brands. We grant licence holders not only the utilization rights and global support in technical issues but also the best possible service quality in marketing and distribution.
Water-repelling, UV ray protective or fast-drying – our pioneering technologies – lend textiles additional functions. They can be universally applied and are used by premium brands worldwide in functional clothing and in other areas such as corporate wear, protective workwear or furniture covering.

Intro coldblack In comparison to light colors, dark colors absorb more heat in direct sunlight. The heat absorption can be reduced to a minimum with coldblack®, the UVA- and UVB-protection textile finish from Schoeller Technologies. coldblack® reduces heat build-up and provides reliable protection from the sun’s rays. Consequently, the wear comfort of textiles can be noticeably improved.

Dark-colored textiles absorb both visible and invisible sunlight, meaning both heat and light. In all types of textiles, coldblack® reduces this absorption of thermal radiation. This function is partciularly effective in the case of darker colors. The result is a noticeably better heat management.

In addition, the technologies offer reliable protection from UV rays, which is particularly important for light-colored textiles. A UPF of 30 (minimum) is guaranteed for all colors and textiles, without the feel or look of the product being affected. As a result, textiles with coldblack® can make an effective contribution to protecting against harmful UV rays.

The plant cuticle is the very outer layer of leaves which protects them from uncontrolled evaporation. This wafer-thin waxy film enveloping the leaves and stems is responsible for the familiar way that water droplets run off in the morning dew or in heavy rain. This effect is the  inspiration for ecorepel®.

ecorepel® ® uses a highly functional, permanently odorless high-tech finish that mimics the natural protective mechanism of plants. The finish spirals around the individual fibers in a thin film, reducing surface tension. This creates the repellent effect that causes water droplets and watery dirt to roll off the textile surface. Intro ecodye Less time, less water, less energy – schoeller®-ecodye is a specially developed auxiliary concept for polyester (PES) dyeing processes. The technology accelerates the dyeing process of yarns and piece goods, thereby saving resources and costs, while simultaneously protecting the environment.
ecodye Block 1
schoeller® ecodye makes shorter heating-up phases possible. In addition, the dyeing process improves the product quality. Even with critical nuances and dye combinations, the use of this technology does not negatively impact the evenness of the dyeing.

This effect is replicated by 3XDRY® and combined with a hydrophilic reverse.

The outer surface of the fabric is equipped with a high-performance, permanently- odorless and PFCfree high-tech finish. This allows water droplets and aqueous dirt to simply run off the surface of the textiles. The reverse, on the other hand, absorbs moisture and wicks it quickly away. As a result, fabrics with 3XDRY® are incredibly quick to dry. Stains resulting from perspiration are practically invisible from the outside and moisture evaporates close to the body, supporting its natural cooling function.
3XDRY® is based on renewable primary products, or to be more specific, on agricultural products not used for foodstuffs or animal feed. The use of genetically modified plants is eschewed from. Furthermore, 3XDRY® includes no fluorocarbon-containing components and is therefore PFC-free. The finishing technology is bluesign® approved. It is safe for humans and the environment.
